Turning to photography as a creative outlet during a valiant fight with breast cancer at age 34,renaissance10 survived and set up a photo contest to help raise funds for the Lavender Trust, a nonprofit that provides information and support to younger women with breast cancer. In the first two years, the competition brought in over £65,000 (that's $107,260.73 U.S.!), with entries from 130 countries last year. sorry for kind of falling off the face of the earth over the weekend. As luck would have it, the same winter storm that put our state into a "state of emergency" decided to show its affection by . Since the only internet access I have at home is through dial-up, this pretty much royally screwed me over. I'm only online now because I managed to hitch a ride into town, which was an hour's treacherous drive away, and I'll be back to a phoneless house later this afternoon.
I really hope it won't take that long, but the phone company says that our service won't be restored until this Saturday night. Beyond that, I'm also heading out for a week-long trip on the 28th, and my internet access then will likely be nil. As of right now, I'm not sure when I'll be back.
Here are some of the characters that you won't be seeing around thanks to this mess. I'm really sorry for all this, guys. I'll try to be back as soon as possible.
